The undersea Internet cable runs across the Atlantic ocean and connecting Virginia and Spain, landing in Virgina Beach and Bilbao. The cable is lying more than 17,000 feet below the oceans’ surface. According to Microsoft, the company claimed that it took them less than two years to lay a 4,000 miles (6,600 kilometers) long and almost 10.25 million pounds subsea fiber optic cable. As per the reports from Microsoft, Marea can transmit up to 160 terabits of data per second which is 16 million times faster when compared to the average home internet connection. Marea is capable to stream 71 million HD videos simultaneously.
With Marea, Microsoft is looking to boost their Azure cloud platform, as well as, other services like Office 365, Xbox Live, Bing, Skype, etc. Well, with such high-speed link, Marea will also help to boost connectivity options in Europe, United States and in some other region including Asia, Africa, etc. So, what do you think about Marea?
